PURPOSE:

To be a catalyst for changes and projects in the
community that would benefit persons with disabilities by providing a
networking opportunity for representatives of agencies that serve persons
with disabilities and by organizing focused events.
MEETINGS:
Held bi-monthly at noon at various agencies on third Wednesdays
Starting in September. Here is a list of the Meeting Dates
September 15th 2009 & November 18th 2009. January 20th 2010,
March 17th 2010 & May 19th 2010.

Hear
reports from Transition Committee, Autism and Aupsberger
Committee, Starting Point (Aging and Disability Resource
Center), Senior Mental Health Alliance, and agencies
represented.

Exchange news of HSAC & agency activities.

Choose the
best use of a $500 HSAC annual grant. In 2007-8 two $250
projects were chosen:
SAIL will use its share to
provide basic supplies, such as toilet paper or cooking
utensils, to disabled persons that the SAIL staff helps to
return to independent living situations after being in
nursing homes. Easter Seals will use its share to provide
additional special services, such as field trips to the zoo
or Rockome Gardens, to a group of developmentally disabled
children ages 7-16.

Note: Since 1997 the Division funded the Revolving Emergency Fund
that gives quick loans authorized by DHS-ORS @ SAIL.
