DECATUR SISTER CITIES

Seevetal, Germany

Seevetal (pop. 40,000) is located in the state of Lower Saxony (one of the 15 German states). This beautiful city is located 15 miles from Hamburg where unique sight-seeing experiences are enjoyed by students.

During thier 3 week stay, students attend hich school at Gymnasium Meckelfeld where they experience life as a teenager in Europe. Students will often visit historical sites such as the Berline Wall and Jewish museums. Group activities include trips to Hamburg and Berlin.

The area around Seevetal is a prosperous agricultural area where wheat, corn, and barley are grown. Many fruit orchards also surround the area. Maschen, one of the villiages, is the site of Europes largest rail yard. Seevetal has an elected mayor and city council.
